Protect your DB2 data
Many organizations use image copies to create backups of DB2 data. Image copies are reliable, but they can take hours to complete. During this time, tables may be available as read-only, potentially disrupting 24x7 business processes. In addition, system recovery involves applying all relevant image copies, which require a significant amount of time – extremely expensive time whether it's a local recovery or a hot site recovery. As a result, database owners are increasingly turning to storage-based "snap" or "flash" replication technologies that allow DB2 to be backed up instantaneously and recovered quickly. While these storage-based technologies are powerful, they are not DB2 aware, resulting in integration challenges between DB2 and the storage replication product.
